Yesterday we went to visit my friend and her new puppies. She phoned me on Thursday and asked me to go up as she thought her bitch had gone into whelp but by 11pm nothing had happened and I had to go home because of my own dogs. We were sure she was going to have the pups some time during the night.

At 5.20 am she phoned to say she had had 2 pups at 9 am she told me she still had no more but the bitch was happy and relaxed. I told her not to leave it much longerbefore phoning the vet as she had been scanned as having at least 4 pups.

She rang again to say the bitch was having a ceasarian as oe pup was curled up in a ball and was blocking the birth passage so she was never going to have the entire litter naturally. She now has 6 healthy pups 3 dogs and 3 bitches all survived and are feeding well

I don't know which are dogs and bitches as we didn't like to get too close as they were only 1 day old

Well those six look nice healthy pups. I had a similar experience with a beagle bitch many years ago, she had 5 pups naturally and then one stuck in a similar fashion in the birth canal. Unfortunately two of the pups behind that one died because of being in the birth canal too long before the C-section was performed. However one of the six pups reared was later exported to Australia and became an Australian Champion.

The silver grizzle is a bitch and is most likely staying with mum. There is 2 black fringed reds a dog :wub: and a bitch a cream I think is a dog 2 goldens and a brown grizzle. The black fringed reds will end up like mum.

She has homes for all of them 2 are I think going to America to the breeder of the bitch
