Well not with us yet, another few weeks. But we made an 8 hour round trip to see the breeder and choose from the litter.

We actually went to see this litter because I wanted a sable (golden-brown and white, think Lassie with short hair) but we fell in love with this little tri-colour girl.

Choosing a puppy is so hard ! They’re all lovely.

Now we have to think of a name. I like Chika which is Japanese (Chikako means ‘child of a thousand perfumes) or Mika (beautiful fragrance), my wife suggested Tatu which is the Swahili word for three.

I had a couple of others I like (Hoshi/Hoshiko = star child) but we have a cat called Shuriken and another dog called Fitz so I’m trying to stay away from similar sounds.

Any ideas welcome.

Awww, congratulations! I've gone all puppy-broody. We had a sable & white rough collie called Sheena when I was a child, she was wonderful.

I like all the names you've mentioned, but Mika is my favourite.

.

she's a doll. :)

as far as names, Trey or Trey Spot is a classic [any non-face 3 card in a deck] -
Blaze would also be suitable, with her face-blaze.
Snip [for the white snip on her muzzle]?
Lass?

if U'd like to go with Irish Gaelic, there's Cushla or Macushla ['my darling'; say, coosh-lah but with the 'oo' a bit short, like the umlaut form of "o" in German rather than the longer ooh-sound of "scooter"];
then with her color, there all the variations on darkness - "Dark", in Irish: dorcha, pronounced dhur-khah; "Shadow", in Irish: scáth or scáil, pronounced skaw or skaw-il; "Midnight", in Irish: meán-oíche, pronounced mi-ahn- ee-heh.

'Shadow', given the collie tendency to tag along at one's heels, might be very apropos. :)

Aww lovely!

I like Mika also

Thanks everyone, yes Mika is what we're leaning towards. It passes the 'Can I yell this across the park?' test and also the 'Am I going to have six dogs coming to me?' secondary test.

@leashedForLife Great names, I like Cushla/Macushla. But we tend to call our cat Shu or ShuShu so if we used Cushla it would inevitably become Cush. And for a cat, Shu does actually recognise his name and come (or miaow) when called so I don't want to confuse him.

Lovely puppy. My OH was brought up with a rough collie and I think would still secretly like one. Enjoy!

I had a sable and white collie cross called Sheena when I was a child :) she was lovely and rather greedy.

I looooveeee herding breeds. My mum has a little sheltie called Rosie. Of your names I like Mika the best. I also like Seren (Welsh for star) and Saiorse (Irish for freedom.) Also like Kuro (Japanese for black) this is the name that we considered when considering shiba inu puppy.
