Well ive decided i really need to learn something new thats a bit of an adventure!! i did think about the territorial army but unlike "Our Boys" (and girls) out there i am a coward , so i have side stepped that! but i would really just like to take myself out of my comfort zone and wondered if any body had any ideas? i want to do it as part of a team though as otherwise i wouldn't do it and id love to meet some new ppl out there! sorry to be so random but i cant think of any ideas on my own

I learned to Scuba Dive in 2000 with a local club (part of the British Sub-Aqua Club). I started with a free 'Try Dive' which was a couple of sessions in the local pool + instruction. Then joined the course one evening a week (theory and practical) for about 10 weeks. Subsequently went to the Red Sea in 2002 and had one of the best holidays I've ever had. It was a most amazing experience.

Scuba Diving would be a great new experience - it was certainly out of my comfort zone :- " , but I felt really good when I had achieved the basic qualification of Club Diver. There was quite a good social side at the club too if you wanted it. I haven't carried on with it (I'm not really sure why, but maybe I preferred diving in warm water :- " ).

I visit an old peoples home, when my nan died a few years ago I wanted to give something back to all the elderly that are just forgotton about, (believe me there is lots). I phoned around and I now visit an elderly home as often as I can. The rewards are amazing, just spending some time and listening to stories about there youth, family, war and most of the old ladies men :- " . I can honestly say its great, also you can enquire about taking dogs in as long as they are quiet. Jasper is a defo no go, he likes to lick and greet everybody as if he has never met a human before   OK, so its not climbing mount everest, but you meet some of the most amazing people, who lets face it we owe so much!!!

Oh my god youve all given me some really good ideas! Thanks! i hadnt really thought of teaching disabled people a new skill before but it sounds a good idea. Not sure what I could teach them though as i dont have any myself! And scuba diving also sounds brilliant fun! i think a few letters and phone calls are in order. Thanks again everyone!

I too did Scuba Diving  I started off being claustrophobic and panicking, but very quickly began to love it. There's nothing like diving in the ocean with all the beautiful fish :) Has to be warm water though
