Hiya Dawn,

Is that number of entrants the norm for showing? God i wish racing was like that!!

Vicky

A lot depends on who what and where.

Who is judging

obviously someone who is respected for judging the dogs will get a better entry than someone who allegedly judges faces or exchanges CC's

What type of dog the judge prefers.

If it is a northern type the judge prefers and has placed previously we would be more likely to enter under them, however others on this board may well think that if it is a Northern judge they wouldnt even travel "to t'end o' t'road" to the show and vice versa

Where is the distance to travel to the show.

For example Karen spent almost 14 hours driving on Saturday. Just to walk in a triangle (3times I think) and collect three bits of cardboard. Many folk wouldnt travel this far but that does depend on Who is judging. A trip to Builth Wells is a major comitment IMO but a trip to NEC, Liverpool or any other easily accessible show venue encourages entries.

So overall a show depends primarily on the choice of judge and the venue. IMHO

There were 132 Whippets on the satarday so both these shows had a very good entry considering where they were. Lots of people went to both shows, and IMO its the judges that will draw the entry. I would usually stay over but it not unusual for me to go that far. Winsor is 20 minutes from me but I will not be taking the dogs there, sounds barmy I know but the dogs are just not up the judges street. :(

Frodo has already chewed a piece off the corner of his bit of cardboard :(
