please could someone give me any advise if they know why my whippets coat has raised along her spine, please

Is it her 'hackles' (sp)? My two get raised hackles when they see a pussy cat!!! Otherwise I don't know I'm afraid

Mine do that when their cold or feeling ill.

Is it a permanent thing like a ridge on a Rigeback? If so it is hereditary, some line are more prone than others. Some ridges are only maybe an inch long, other can start at the back of the scull right down the back of the neck.

Cold can make them raise the hairs, also aggression or fear.

My Ziggy is really unwell at the moment and her hair is up :(

Hackles are just neck, shoulders and a line down the spine but if theyre unwell its a much wider line down the spine and rump as well.

Hi Claire, how are you and hows Tiffany? Stars hackles go up so far she looks like one of those dinasaws when she gets stroppy with Skye. Bet the hackles really show up on a dog of Tiffs colouring.

You do not say how long your whippet has had raised hair along her back. Unless she was born with hair like this (Unusual in a whippet), hair raised along the back short term is usually from Cold, Fear or Agression. If the hair is raised for longer, it will most likely be a sign of ill health or pain. Check your dog for any indications that she has hurt herself or is unwell
