Hmm - good question - it would never have occurred to me not to - because the dog IS a Ch now. Therefore the official name of the dog is Ch.......... I would have thought.

Here's one following that same train of thought - if the dog changes owners after used at stud (say a couple of years) and they add their afix to the name does that change on the pedigree of the earlier puppies.

I'm not sure what the official line is, but I would have thought that the name would change on the earlier pups' pedigrees, just as you can use CH if the dog/bitch later gains a title. After all, it is still the same dog. (Rather like a mother remarrying and taking her husbands name. She doesn't use her old name when with her children and her new one everywhere else.)

I think you would find the KC computer would automatically update the name of any dog. I know I was most surprised when Ronan won his 3rd CC because Graham obviously brought home the card that was handed out on the day and the judge had filled in Ro's name with CH on the front. I was horrified because he obviously wasn't a champion when he went into the class. However, when the certificates arrived from the KC, the CC certificate also had CH on the front of his name (along with JW at the end which a lot of people want to ignore) so it would seem that the minute the 3rd CC is won, the dog is a Champion.

Sorry to tell you Dessie but you are wrong ,A dog winning it`s 3rd C C is only a Champion when you get your certificate through, Have you never seen people advertising there big win with>>> Subject to K C conformation?. They have to wait for paperwork to come from Show Secretary ,and if there is any objections EG not eligable for class etc. The Lovely Green Card you are given counts for nothing ,Just as well really cos so many judges make a hash out of filling them in!! :0 Fait Accompli has a J W and SH CM on too(what does the last one mean?

Jax. how can I be wrong, when the KC sent his CC certificate THEY had put Ch in front of his name. Can't get much more confirmation than from the Kennel Club!!! And it was sent within a very short space of time as well, days rather than weeks.

As I said ;;;;;when you get the Certificte from the K C they are CONFIRMING that he is a Champion( subject to K C confirmation! as in adverts!)The one given at the show has no standing till the KC confirms
