Oliver is doing equations and we are stuck on this one as it has negative numbers in it. Logically M would equal -5 but multiplying two negatives create a positive.

can any-one help or ask a clever kid to help.

2M+3=-7

M= -5 is the answer

If Oliver has to show his workings too it would look like this:

2m + 3 = -7

2m = -7 - 3 (when you move a number from one side of the = to the other it changes from positive to negative or vice versa)

2m = -10

m = -10 /2 (again because the 2 has moved from one side of the = to the other it changes from multiply by to divide by)

m = -5
