Hi, I have a 4 year old Old English Mastiff called Benji. He is a rescue dog and very large. We got him in November and he has already chewed through 3 3-year chew proof toys!!! He is a sweet natured dog but is aggressive towards other dogs and some people. Looking for recommendations please

Recommendations to help with his aggression?

You've had him such a short while. Hang on in there and let him relax- maybe the chewing is helping him cope with the stress of his big move. Also the aggression. Rescue dogs are often on edge because in their minds they've just moved into a territory that is occupied by other dogs. It's like being a child in the playground of a new school- other kids own it, they can beat you up if they want to! I'm sure lots of experienced forum members will give you great advice but the best I can do to start is relax and wait. Not too much attention for him either.

Welcome!

Can I suggest you post about your dog's issues in the Behaviour and Training section?: Dog Behaviour and Training

It would help if you could give as much detail as possible - exactly under what circumstances he shows aggression, how severe it is, and how you respond. Also, what does his standard day look like, in terms of walks (on lead or offlead), training, play, rest times?
