Maltese Puppy/Apartment

Hi all,
I hope soon to provide a home to a Maltese puppy. I live in a second floor apartment. Any tips on living in an apartment with a small dog would be helpful. TIA

Any dog can live in an apartment, but make sure your pup gets regular exercise and stimulation

One of the first issues will be toilet training. I hate puppy pads with a passion as they confuse puppies about whether indoor toileting is allowed or not. If you have a balcony, make up a shallow tray, as big as possible, with compost and turf to simulate a grass surface outdoors. That will make the transition to holding his/her toilet for outdoors easier.
