Lure Coursing - National League

Ive been looking at a few of the lure coursing posts with a view to starting lure coursing / racing in the future. Could anybody explain if there are any National leagues / cups etc that people are challenging for or is it just for fun. Second question do dogs who lure course do normal whippet racing as well or are the ingredients required to excel different for the two events?
