Just wondering has anyone been to any lurcher events yet? or is any1 heading to any soon? how have your dogs done? :D

We are going to Thame Show in Oxon on Sunday. Typical was going to Northampton but Thame is nearer, twop shows on the same day within an hour of each other.

Actually chose Tally at this show last year when I judged there, so I know her breeder will be there which will be great,

well the first lurcher event over here this year is not till the start of may, should be good though its the N.I gamefair and i think the NLRC is running it. jan did you say that you judge lurcher shows?

Yep I do about one a year on average. Always have a great day out and then spend lots of money if it is attached to a country show.

Oh cool, it must be a good experience judging lurchers, is Tally the only lurcher you have? :)

Tally is my one and only. I had a greyhound and a collie/whippet Lurcher until last year when I lost them both. One of my first dogs was a lurcher who was a real rogue. He was a stray and even after he was castrated he still went walkabout frequently. Unfortunately he died as he lived and was hit by a train probably whilst chasing a Hare. He was the most striking dog to look at. He was known as the ghost as he would slip away when you werent looking and was a real thief. He was a fantastic ratter as well and worked in partnership with my Labrador who could climb the ladder to the grain loft. Great to watch.

Oh thats terrible, my lurcher (bed/whip) got hit on a main road a few years back, he was that wrapped up in hunting a fox he didnt even see the car, fortunately he survived without any broken bones he had alot of scaring after that though, but thankgod he is ok,lol :sweating:
