Hi all, I know I never post anymore as so busy these days, but I do still pop in for a quick nosey now and then. Here I am today though, hoping that a post on K9 may help in the search for a friend's missing greyhound:

Misty escaped from her garden in Normanton village, between Grantham and Lincoln, off the A607 last Sunday (23rd) teatime. She had only been in her new home for 3 weeks, and so still doesn't know the area too well.

Worryingly, at around the time Misty escaped, someone was seen just down the road putting a greyhound into their car, which does seem rather a coincidence.

Obviously, if she has been taken somewhere by car, she could be anywhere in the country by now, and despite extensive searching in the local area there has been no sign of her, so the worry now is that this may indeed be the case.

Misty is a retired racer, approx 2yrs old, white with slight flecking, and black eye patches.

Unfortunately at the time she escaped she was only wearing a house collar, with no tags, but does have an ear tattoo MKD9, and is microchipped to the Grantham area rescue centre she originally came from.

She is quite a timid girl, and will now be more so, being lost and frightened or with people she doesn't know :(

If anyone thinks they may have seen her (a slim chance I know), if a new greyhound fitting her description has turned up where there wasn't one previously, on the loose, with neighbours, in the park, coursing or whatever, please bear in mind it could be her.

She is registered with DogLost, where her owners contact number can also be found:

There is a cash reward.

Misty's owners are so worried about their little girl.....it seems so unfair that this should happen just when she'd found her lovely forever home.

Thanks for reading guys

Heidi x

p.s, if as many people as possible could cross post this to other forums I may not know about, I would be so grateful.....I know Mally has a forum, I wonder could it perhaps go on there?

keeping it all crossed for Misty's safe return xxx

Thank you Gutsey that's very good of you.

Frustratingly the owners hadn't taken any photos of her yet, which doesn't help matters. I'll make sure I tell them about this pic, I'm sure it will be a help.

Thanks to Gutsey finding her photo, it is now added to her Doglost profile which is a big help

Mally has kindly added this to his forum, many thanks.

If anyone else can forward to anywhere they think may help we would be so grateful.....just one contact could mean the difference between finding her or not.

Thanks guys

Heidi

Yes Gutsey, the best news, she's home! Just got in from pulling the posters down, got a lot of emailing to do now :)

It was indeed Misty who was seen being put into a car just down the road from her house, only moments after she'd escaped the garden......the guy stopped when he spotted her on the verge, and despite the fact that she was wearing a collar, unscathed, clean and well cared for, rather than knock on a few doors, he took her the thirty-odd miles or so home to his mum

Myself and another local Doglost helper had heavily circulated Misty's details around local equestrian venues & the PonyClub website, and as he was returning home from one such venue the day he found her, we're guessing he must have picked up on it somewhere horsey this week....probably thought it wasn't worth trying to hang on to a dog that was so obviously being looked for?

Anyway, at least he did the right thing in the end, and she's home bless her  , none the worse for her adventure (it's just the rest of us nursing our shredded nerves!)

Thank you so much everyone for your help, advice and words of support , all very much appreciated :huggles:

thats a relief - glad to hear a happy ending
