Im good-to-go for buying a van ! yeeha ! i think i dont need 2 cars.. ok ones a 2-seater so it defo stays..the other a peugeot 406 estate has served its purpose but i reckon a van would suit better.

id like a "midi-sized" van for travelling back and forth to the mainland. the midi stays in a price-band almost like a car on the ferrys and to be honest i dont need a big van. do any of you own a Fiat Scudo...Peugeot Expert..or a simialr van ?

whats your opinions. do you know of any near you for sale as im prepared to fly over and drive back ?

john....whos dogs are reading through AUTOTRADER which the monkey-dog stole from the newsagent. :(

(shes getting worse)

I used to have a fiat scudo van & it was brill for the dogs,& plenty of room for sleeping in too

Only problem was that it wasn't the turbo diesel,& therfore way way too slow on acceleration.....i'd got no chance of overtaking anything doing 50mph unless i could see a mile ahead

You'd better keep an eye on that monkey dog of yours before she gets you into big trouble :- "

No help whatsoever because it's probably way too big but we had a Renault Trafic van which drove better than a lot of cars!! 6 speed gearbox, my mum (at nearly 70  ) drove it from Northumberland to Milton Keynes and loved it! Don't know how the Kangoo compares but it was great.

Found one John....just perfect for you... :- "

in a van outve sight should keep them cool calm and collected before racing 8)

Dont buy a ford connect we bought 2 brand new ones and they spent more time in the work shop than out on the job!!!! (w00t)

They lasted a year before being replaced by merc sprinters

Stormy - we have a Citroen Berlingo car, but we've taken the seats out of the back - obviously you could go for the van type, but they don't always have side loading doors, and the back doors open like doors in the house - you know swing out. We put a lot of thought into this car - we bought it new, and had the windows tinted dark - on reflection I would have gone for the darkest tint - but you can just see through ours. We would have loved a nice colour, but went for white to reflect the sun and heat, and it's brilliant. They don't do the same engine as ours anymore, but have only stopped in the last couple of years I think. Ours is 2 litre turbo diesel - and not bad on fuel either. It tows our caravan a treat too! Going back to the rear doors - the car has an up and over door (is that what you call it  ) and when it's raining you can stand underneath it

Just a thought though - the 1.9 diesel isn't very good - so don't go for one of those.

Friend of ours has a Fiat Scudo, and she's been thrilled with it too, but she had the swing open doors at the back, and in the end didn't use them at all - she had cages fitted in the back facing into the van, and got to them quite easily through the twin side loading doors.

Previous to the Berlingo, we had a Mitsubishi L300 van - a small van, and one of the only ones with twin side loading doors - (invaluable with dogs). If you were ever in an accident - the more doors that open, the more chance you have of getting your dogs out  The Mitsubishi was brilliant, and we only parted with it because the seat in the front was a bit too hard for my delicate bottom :b I felt after years of travelling thousands of miles to opens - I needed a bit of comfort - and warmth I have to add.

While I'm on the subject of warmth - some of the vans with the cab closed off are awful for dogs, as most don't have any heating in the back - no good for my pampered pooches :teehee:

We put a lot of thought into the Berlingo, and it's paid off 'cos it's brill :p

Last September we brought a Toyota Yaris. You can either take the back seats out or they go into the floor,i,ve got two big cages in there.Cheap on petrol and low tax :D :D We got the estate version of the Yaris and not the hatchback.

Sounds like you need something similar to a little 3.5T horsebox with living and cab access!!!

Ideal

You can sleep in it, cook and wash in it, keep the dogs in it and drive it - what more could you want :teehee:
