Must share this lovely experience with all you whippet lovers and new mums!

We've got an incubator on our kitchen table as I write with 2 little yellow fluffy chicks about to hatch any time now. theres a hole in their shell and little beaks poking out and chirping.

I got the eggs a few weeks ago for the little ones at school to watch develop, brought them home this weekend in case they came early. Been looking inside the eggs regularly with an egg lume-Its very exciting!! Makes you feel abit broody (w00t)

I'm about to be a mum again!!!

Karen

P.S- Steve said its ironic as this is where they'll end their life too-on the kitchen table. Spoken with a packet of paxo in his hand. lol

2 are out and rolling around trying to find their feet-one of them has had a drink already, marvellous nature isn't it?

the dogs are very curious as to the chirping going on-quite loud for something so small.

have you got any piccies? and what are you gonna do with them once they grow up(please dont say curried or roast :p )

How long does it take them from laying the eggs to them hatching?

What they called :p

I can just imagine Corral watching them grow :p then when big and fat only feather's left

They've been in the incubator for 21 days-have got piccies will try at some point to post.

If there not cockerals we may keep them in the yard-depends on how dogs react-If they don't like them- I'll give them back to the gamekeeper I obtained them from.Yes- Sue they'll be just about big enough for Coral to pick on.

Kids at school today were over the moon-they even coloured pictures to give them.ahhh

Sooo cute!!!! Feeling... broody! :D Must colour black pup yellow... (w00t) and some feathers... o:) ;) ;) ;)

Yip-they're just getting their wing feathers-gonna line them with our whippet Coral-should be a SAFE BET! lol

Orrrh too cute!!!

I had a chicken once called Henrietta :b , was sooooo tame, it was a lovely speckled grey colour - might try & persuade kevin we *need* some chickens!

Can you only tell what sex they are when their proper feathers come?

Our ducks have laid this weekend, not got an incubator though & she duck doesn't seem very interested in sitting them.

can you not wrap the eggs up and put them somewhere warm?

Can't think of anywhere that the temperature would be constant
