In need advice on lamps if anyone could be so kind, i have ferreted for years but have recently been out with a dog on a lamp and want to try this out myself. My older bitch often picks up the odd bunny on late walks but i would like to try her on a lamp.

Were do i start?

Prices vary so much and all the batteries and lamps are different?

Any advice greatly received before i part with my cash.

Im in the North wales area on the coast.

I like the cluson lazerlite for lamping with the dogs with a flip up red filter. I have a 10amp/hr battery pack and it lasts a good nights lamping (2-3 hrs).

I use the lamp with the filter to spot the rabbits then flip the filter up when i slip the dog, works well.

One problem you may encounter when buying a lamping kit is the wiring often developes loose connections. Also if you do buy a kit don't buy one with a deben charger get one with the cluson charger they last much longer

i have a (Lightforce Striker... 500,000 candle power) wich i bought about a month and half ago and its the best lamp i owned.. its also good cos you can ajust the spread of them beam just by twisting the ratation head.. its nice and bright cost me £75.. just for the lamp.. just like most lamps the cable on the lamp will go in time its easy to put right tho :) i quick search on google should explain more then me but i would recomend it :)

for the battery i use one out of a booster pack that jumps cars the same type of batterys can be found on mobility buggys.. i think there 12volt 18 amp there spot on m8 heavier than normal but tbh there still light

Hi vec the only lamp I would use is a Cluson Lazerlite nice and lite for when you are geting over gates/fences nice sharp beam

I use small battery pack 12 volt 7amp/hr gets us about 2 good hrs lamping we use red filter that pops up but the light is that bright we some times just keep it down . the lamp on its own cost about £45, battery and filter about £50 but any 12 volt battery will do if it is over7amp/hr.
