Let's say one had the money to go shopping for an English Champion .... how much money would one need ??? Hypothetical question of course.

You know Dessie .... I think I knew that already. ;)

I suspect one would need a lot of the Queen's stirling too - and I'm not talking about trying to buy someone's only champion or most dearly beloved dog - one obvioulsy would never be able to buy from that sort of person - I'm talking about from a breeder who has enough champions to their name to be in a position to sell one - what kind of ball park figure would we be looking at - anyone like to hazard a guess? :w

I would reckon £2 - 3,000 if it's going abroad

There isn`t many who would sell there Champions , Nev of Nevedith fame would , so would Roma (Silkstone) ,can`t think of any others that I know personally , I know Jessie McLeod Peperone)never sells her Champions ,She might give them away to a pet home(which is quite refreshing to hear ) :D

Lana whose breeding would you want to be buying in if you could ? hypotherically of course.

Cost from a top breeder , what ever they can get, !couldn`t sell one of mine at any price .On hols Phil suggested moving abroad . I said fine but we needed room /land for the `gang `His reply `can`t you give them away to people you trust!`!!!!!!!!!!! :0 u. :0 He dosn`t know me at all does he! I told him I`ll come and visit :D

Supposedly everyone has their price. Somebody who breeds for the sake of showing and winning, not for the joy and pleasure of having a lovely companion. (Who will turn their paw to showing, because they in return, adore you so much that they will play your silly games, o.k. and because their nature is they like to stand and say-"look at me. Aren't I handsome/beautifull etc.")

Is the sort of person, I think, to screw a potential buyer, for as much money as possible :w . Especially, as apparently British C.C.'s are so hard to obtain, that I could easily see the price, being within the range suggested for a dog,and possibly more for a bitch :0 .

Wouldn't be surprised if it was more money, if you had limitless funds, and were desperate for a certain dog/bitch. The seller could ask any price, and get it :D . You would be convincing yourself, that you have a bargain, to justify the expense. You would find yourself telling friends, "I needed those lines, looks, temperment..." etc ;) .

The sky would be the limit, literally.

Lyd.

Honestly Jax - I don't have the money to buy a champion! I did say it was a hypothetical question. I was just interested to know what kind of money it would take, as there are breeders who do sell champions - we see it happen, but one never really hears how much for!

A friend of mine asked me what would be my price eg if someone offered me money for Layla - well of course, just like Dessie's answer - no amount of money could buy her - she is simply too dear to me.

did I spell sterling/stirling incorrectly above ... sorry! :b

Aslan, you've got too much time on your hands ;) , thinking up hypothetical questions :8 . Me thinks you're starting to dream a lot 'cos Layla's pregnant, or because you've gone blonde in your lovely summer weather :D .

The dogs you've got, and you're hubby are clearly not demanding enough for you :0 , suggest you diversify and buy a bonster.

Lyd.

£3-5,000 Is my guess also.

I think you would be more likely to be able to borrow a Ch for 6 months if you got to know the owner/breeder and took it for campaigning and breeding in your country. Patsy Gilmour has done this as has Pauline Oliver and of course Lee Peterse.

Nothing to add apart from this that isnt mentioned above.

>>Me thinks you're starting to dream a lot 'cos Layla's pregnant, or because you've gone blonde in your lovely summer weather .....Lyd

Oh! I have gone blonde!!! (well partially blonde) That's incredible! "Lovely" summer weather ? ..... That's debatable.

I'm not dreaming Lyd ... I knew it would not be within my price range! I have just always wondered how much people do actually spend to do it. And by my calculations an Aussie would need a cool $15 000 AUD minimum. You can buy a small car for that here.

And anyhow ... Layla is going to produce such stunners that people will come flocking from far and wide wanting to buy one and they will all go off and become international champions and make me famous. ;)
