Just a cow enjoying life

.

Nope, she’s being a cow, not being a cow “acting like a dog”, LOL. :D

It’s just that so few ppl give COWS any opp to play - they have no environmental enrichment, no objects to interact with (parking Ag machinery in the paddock or the pasture is actually a terrible practice, cows get sliced by harrow edges or impaled by hay-rakes commonly), & in general, their surroundings are boring, & barren of interesting things to do.

A back-scratcher, a wallow to cool in, low-flow showers to cool off or bathe under, drinking water supplied by a spigot they can press with their chins that dispenses into a shallow bowl, shade trees that are fenced to protect trunk & roots but have wide canopies to throw shade for resting, an indestructible large ball such as given to elephants in zoos, DUST BOWLS of sand to “ bathe” in, overhead objects to butt or mouth on rafter-mounted tethers, vertical brushes to walk thru (resembling gates), varying terrain, etc, are all things cattle enjoy as much as dogs enjoy a ball to chase, a bumper to fetch, a buddy to romp with.
Giving cattle ways to control their own comfort (self-applying a nontoxic insect repellent?...) empowers them, & gives them STUFF TO DO.

A barren pasture is better than 24/7 confinement in a closed building, but it’s not optimal. Optimal allows the ANIMAL to act on the environs. Cows do have brains, & stimulation is good for all species. :)

That is really cool, obviously I know that zoo animals and pet animals get environmental enrichment (or should get it i should say) but i never thought that cows would interact with things like this! Like you said they're just used for meat and milk so don't usually get a chance, more cows should get to live like this!!!
