Junior Handling

My daughter Lauryn is in a junior handling class tomorrow and is struggling to get Diamond on the table. She isnt big but a little bit too 'leggy' for an 8 year old to lift.

Can we ask to leave Diamond on the floor even though she is small enough for the table?

After many years as a junior handling in the distant past.

If the dog is to big for her to but on the table dont worry. you are aiming to show your ability to get the best performance out of your dog. If this means you stand the dog on the floor then so be it. the only reason whippets are table dogs is to make going over them easier for the judge. Due to the fact the Handler is been judged and not the dog then there is no reason what so ever that she HAS to stack the dog on a table.

Stack the dog just in front or side of the table.

(I still have the same problem. :b )

Good luck and be confident with lots of smiles and show the dog like you have just won Best In Show at Crufts.

YOu could also ask the club before the junior handling classes start if they have a lower table that could be used.

When showing a Whippet it is quite ok for it to be shown on either table or floor and no penalty is applied, either in the normal ring or in junior handling classes.
