Hello everyone, I thought I would tell you all about our visit to the vet last week, the wart I have been concerned about started to change in appearence (sometimes crusty and odd looking ) anyway it turned out to be a benign tumour that can affect young dogs, the good news is it could disappear as quickly as it came, I feel it was worth the twenty odd quid to put my mind at rest. The dog training is not doing very well!! Jovi is very clever and knows the comands but is'nt going to do what we ask when we are in class but will do them at home IF and WHEN HE feels like it !! He has got more socialised and enjoys going out in to the park playing catch me if you can with other dogs and he is'nt as nervous around people like he used to be so there is a light at the end of the tunnel after all. Luv Wellybob

That's good news, glad it is nothing to worry about. Know what you mean about whippets and training, I've just been shouting till I'm blue in the face while Grace was helping herself to a fisherman's lunch. I'm not sure that ever changes, however much training you do

So glad that it is nothing to worry about. Sometimes one does feel that the vet is worth every penny (NOT OFTEN :p )

How old is Jovi?

Toddy, is also variable in his training. I think he will always be a chancer and a theif 8) His recall is getting pretty good ( for a whippet!) and he has calmed down in the house.

I just need to cure him of the addiction to my shoes. I find it hard to get shoes that fit well and are comfy but stylish. He is averaging a pair a week  I am getting better trained tho' , I tend to put them away instead of just in my bedroom.

He also knows most of the comands but is also an IF AND WHEN HE FELS LIKE sort of person.

   - you and me both!!!!

Nice to hear that Jovi's wart isn't serious and good luck with the training - my gang are all too independent to be good at obedience :b

Glad Jovi is okay - it sounds like he had the same thing my Grover had (a histiocytoma). Grover ( 8 months old)had his removed last month but the vet said it might have gone of its own accord. It was just in an awkward place so we decided to get it removed to make sure it didn't get knocked when the dogs were playfighting.

Also very glad to hear Jovi's losing his nervousness - you are doing a good job with him. As for training my two are good off lead, come back first time about 90% of the time and touch wood have never played up when it's time to get back on the lead. I never take it for granted though and they are only let off in safe places, well away from roads etc cos we never know when a bunny might be more enticing that a training treat! Like Jovi they know their commands but choose the most embarrassing times to act thick - make me look a right numpty at training, and the times they don't come back when I call is always in front of some super clever collie :b
