Itchy dog - but found

Hi everyone

Our dog has been really itchy for the last few weeks and we have visited the vets twice. The first time they said it must be allergies and prescribed us Piriton for 2 weeks and to come back if it hadn't improved. We took him back this week and was given something stronger. Both times they have checked him all over for fleas etc.

He is still really itchy and I've now just found this but crawling on him. Does anyone know what it is?

I'm not an expert but it looks like a weevil. They can infest food, like flour or dog kibble, but aren't parasitic on dogs and are harmless if eaten. So I'd guess that it's unconnected to your dog's itching. Of course, if you find more on your dog, you'd want to show one to the vet for their expert opinion.
