Is your dog from a breeder/rescue/advert?

I'm just a bit curious really - how did you find your dog(s)?

I would like to think I would try to find the perfect rescue, but I do often peruse breeders websites!

I'm always very wary of dogs being sold in the classifies - has anyone ever had any problems?

I got Blaize from a breeder and waited for her to have a litter before I booked her..

I got Ripples from a classified advert - which would normally be a total no no for me, but I had decided she was the kind of heinz 57 I wanted and so I went with it...

Two of mine, I went to view litters and they were the only ones left that hadn't been 'picked'! I ended coming home with them, even though they were the wrong sex.............it worked out for the best though.

oreo is a rescue.

We felt we didnt have time for a puppy and a rescue suited our situation.

we do want another at some point but that will probably come when/if we start a family and will be a pup.

We got our chocolate lab from a recommended breeder. We also got a cross lab from a family who didn't want her any more and would never do that again. I felt cos I didn't know the dog from puppy that I didn't trust her enought

Lily is a rescue, my little mystery dog, she was a stray from the dog pound, I've had her 4 years, I think she's maybe 8 or 9 now

I got my three from reputable breeders through Scottish Beagle club, that way I knew exactly what I was buying and where I could get advice.

We did look at rescue dogs years ago but a certain rescue, deemed us unsuitable to rehome one of their dogs even though we live in the middle of nowhere with a half acre back garden because me and my husband both have full time jobs (and can afford a dog, insurance, vet care, decent food, toys, holidays where the dogs come with us, etc), they did not take in to consideration the fact that my dogs come to work with me as I am a vet nurse and are never left at home. In hindsight I'm glad as I always wanted Beagles but my husband really wanted to rehome a dog rather than buy a puppy. Now we are both very glad we have our happy (if a little crazy) beagle family. :clown:

The dealings with the rescue has tainted my opinion of the work they do as we were given the impression that we would get the dog if we were at home all day with no job!!!!!!

Molly is a rescue. She arrived with us at about 10 months, with a brand new set of pearly white teeth and with both of her front legs showing old breaks in them. No basic training, no lead training, no socialisation, so thin all of her coat was broken off really short (she's long haired now), you could count her ribs without even touching her and she fitted through a cat flap (which is so wrong for a large puppy German Shepherd).

She's still got separation anxiety issues and I'm not sure we'll ever trust her with other dogs, but she's coming along nicely now

Dude is a rescue, kind of. I was helping an elderly family member look for a suitable rescue dog. My mum phoned me to say someone was selling a whippet, in her local paper. I took a 200 mile trip to see him, and it was like looking at a sand lizard or a newt he was so skinny, with his toes pointing in all the wrong directions, cos of his massive claws, and bald bits from sleeping in a plastic cat bed. The owners worked 10-12 hour shifts, and he was left home alone. She told me the breeder that she bought him off said he had one blue and one brown eye, though he clearly had a massive cataract. He wasn't walked as he was very reactive around other dogs, going from night shifts to day shifts meant they couldn't leave him in the garden all day, so they were selling him. I consulted my family, bought him, brought him home, soon realising he would never be suitable for my relative to walk.

I live on a boat, a very small one at that time, so there was a horrible awful blip, where i thought i could'nt keep him, as my relative didn't want him. Jr whippet rescue, helped us both, and i rented a room in a house, with a bit of garden, Dude was not that impressed with living in the city or me either, so after 6 months, we then moved back to the boat, which suited him better for lots of reasons. Then i got him a better boat,

so basically i was pretty stupid, but i can honestly say i would do it all again, he is a terror to walk, totally nutty, and my absolute best bud and co worker.

also about the cat flap, my parents have an interior wooden one, which dude managed to squeeze through once, damaging his tail, he is a bit skinnier than a gsd tho. He then crept into my parents new memory foam bed and bled everywhere, poor little thing, it was awful.

the brindle was a rescue and apart from a month hes been no problem, the black dog was off a friend who was doing more hours a t work, from day 1 hes deaf when he wants to be but so gentle.
