I was wondering if anyone else's whippets have this dear little whorly bit at the back of the neck :wub: . Very useful when applying frontline!

No unusual, some lines produce them, but nothing to worry about. How is she bred? That could have some bearing on it.

It doesn't worry me at all, I think it is adorable! I was just interested to know how rare it is. She came from Jane Temple in Wincanton (Ottercomb) mother Ottercomb Tinsel and father Ottercomb Singing Solo. Could copy the whole pedigree for you if you are interested (pm me).
 
I did wonder, Jane had Daisy, Rystone Wigeon from me!!!!!!!!! Their maternal grand mother had a whorl, Blue Orchid at Shaunvalley, my Impy. Jane has bred some nice whippets with lovely natures.

I do know the pedigree!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
How lovely, it is really nice to know where her whorl comes from! And you are right, she does have a lovely nature, especially now that the manic puppy phase is over. A great snuggler and a clown. And a dog walking acquaintance paid her a great compliment by saying she'd never seen a happier, more cheerful whippet (though of course she hadn't met many of the ones on here!). I'd love to see a picture of Impy if you have one. Was she a blue too?

Impy was blue, as was Daisy's mother. Very similar to your girl, I'll look out some photos for you. They all go back to my first blue dog Selbrook Blue Print who sadly died young.

Thank you, that would be great. Nice to think that Selbrook Blue Print's line is going strong - it must have been very sad to lose him early.
 
We call it a "whidgy," whippet+rhodesian ridgeback. :)

My Bruno has it, and it is a perfect kiss target too!

My Whippet/ Greyhound bitch has it and i bred her a couple of years ago and 2 bitches in the litter also have it i call it a mohican :)

It comes from the coursing greyhound line in my bitch.

I think it looks wicked!!! :thumbsup:

My Penny has this too, she is also a blue whippet!
 
Izzy has the very same, it's like a little mohican punk hair do on the back of her neck! Makes her special xx
 
Cilla also has this, it adds character to our special little girl :wub:
 
As others said; nothing to worry about. It is the same ridge as ridgebacks have. It is inherited, so you will find it in some lines and not in others.

Lovely blue girl :wub:
