does anybody know the breeding for this bitch as it is now a no limit vet and would like to know the breeding

it is not out of all the other dogs that have passed away either Dee, irish lass, irish wish, irish reign and numerous others that have passed away more than ten years ago :clown:

hi ricky

irish dancer is out of RINGVEIW GOLD X CORA born 1/6/99 you can come to your own conclusion on that? i have never heard of any whippets with those names. ;)

ricky i was told at the championships that it was out of the same litter as come on sue and come on ernie but i didn,t think they where that old

:(

if the breeding for irish dancer is ringview gold x cora, then i would advise people to look in the greyhound data base. as they are both in there registered as greyhounds

The Greyhound Breeding and Racing Database

how heavy is it

who owns or races this dog?

Irish Dancer was bred by a friend of mine in Northern Ireland, I am trying to contact him as to the exact breeding but if my memory serves me right it was a greyhound mated to a whippet/greyhound called Cora, and Cora was her pet name. She was approx 23" and was used for hunting and lurcher racing in Northern Ireland. For those of you who have looked at the greyhound data base and have seen greyhounds with the name Cora....please look again and have a look at the date of birth of the dogs by the name of Cora on the database as they were all born in the 1800's. As some of you have come to the conclusion that the mother of Irish Dancer is a greyhound called Cora, she should be in the Guinness book of records o:) .You can work that one out for yourself.

I could be totally wrong but sometimes i get the feeling that some jealous people are trying to say that some of the no limit dogs are greyhounds and will use every opportunity to knock them. As for Come On Ernie and Come On Sue, it was myself who took Miss Ellie on a 500 mile round trip to have her mated to Come On Chief for a friend of mine who pupped her and sent the pups to England. My friend actually held her when she was mated as it was done artifically.

(w00t) I see what you mean with the names on the database.

There's 2 x Taylor Maid's on there too, doesn't mean she's a registered greyhound does it & apparently both her parents are on there too, Stewart x 1 & Hobgoblin x 4!!

Ricky, just off the phone with the guy who bred Irish Dancer and the sire was a greyhound called Ringview Gold. For Cora the dam, see previous reply.

I know Judy has LOTS of pedigree whippets on her own database, maybe you could let her know the name of the pedigree Cora was off & she could try & search for you?

Vicky, the bloke who bred Irish Dancer does not know the names of the pedigree whippets used in the breeding of Cora, the mother of Irish Dancer. Cora was a lurcher/longdog/non ped whippet......or whatever else you wish to call her. As Cora was bred for hunting, although she also raced at the local lurcher shows no one was really interested in the pedigree of the whippet used. Cora must have been very useful at the lurcher racing and the guy who owned her wanted to breed of her to produce faster pups so that he could be more competitive at the lurcher races.

However, through the Countryman's Weekly the people from Northern Ireland got to make contact with people who breed non ped whippets from England as some of the non ped pups are advertised in the Countryman's Weekly as lurchers. Some of the non ped pups were purchased and brought over from England and were extremely successful at the lurcher races. Other contacts were made at Chatsworth Country Fair with those who race non peds in England and over a couple of years it was these pups which dominated the lurcher racing in Ireland. The people in Northern Ireland began to breed of the non peds to produce even faster dogs to race at the lurcher shows as they soon found out that a non ped whippet is much faster than a ped whippet.

I think Irish Dancer was bred before the non ped pups were being brought over.

Hope that sheds some light on things.

what colour is Irish Dancer, as a friend of mine who judges and competes with his none ped whippet in the UK and Ireland, has bought and sold none ped whippet /greyhound over there, also what is her date of birth

Irish Dancer is a black bitch. I have only seen a photograph of her, but she looked a real picture of a dog and i'm sure she would have done well at the lurcher shows.

I'm not sure if she was ever showed or raced in Northern Ireland.

I know that the guy who bred her brought non ped dogs in from England and it was these dogs which he then bred from when he seen they were much faster that ped whippet/greyhound crosses.

The bloke who bred Irish Dancer also bred Come on Ernie and Come on Sue.....must be the first time pups bred in Northern Ireland have done so well at the non ped racing in England. :luck: :luck:

Vicky i am trying to get the date of birth of Irish Dancer, i don't know if the guy who bred her has the exact date but i am sure he will know the year and maybe the month. Gary Farmer may be able to help on that one as he brought the dog in from Northern Ireland.

To be honest and i hope Gary doesn't mind me saying this, Irish Dancer was fairly decent when racing against the average lurcher but couldn't compete with the no limit non peds as they were much faster.

Vicky, my name is Darren Moore, your friend might know me as i attend most of the lurcher shows in Northern Ireland.

irish dancer is registered as being born 1/6/99

:) I lined irish dancer with cracked it, a year or so back, for a friend of steve williams, the bitch missed but i was told at the time, it was breed out of a greyhound / whippet bitch, so whats all the fuss about this dog,

Rowland, I was wondering myself what all the fuss was about. I put as much information as possible on this topic so that the people who were asking the questions would know the background of Irish Dancer, it seems strange that neither Rick or Johng have bothered to reply....makes me wonder if some people were doing a bit of mixing.

 Sorry Johng...see your reply about Irish Dan  cer's birth.
