Introducing puppy to parents’ dog

How old and what breed/type is the puppy?

So just lead them up and go for a walk, totally ignore them and just walk and observe, they have got to see and smell each other, don’t make it a big issue, and repeat this time and time again,, if you make it a big issue it will become a big issue.

Many adult dogs hate puppies. Others tolerate them and a very few like them. No need to look for trouble. Let them meet on neutral ground well away from non-family people and other dogs and with plenty of space to get away from each other. Control the situation so that no dog is overwhelmed or feels the need to protect itself. Make it a very short meeting the first time. If beagle absolutely can't cope, don't wait to see if that improves because it won't the first time.

Puppies change rapidly with their dog social skills. What doesn't work at one time may well work later, and when pup reaches adolescence, all bets are off! But it passes, and they should settle with each other eventually. It could take many months, though.

I'd also keep them both on lead and 'socially distanced' to start with. Then as long as the beagle seems relaxed (possibly not for a few walks), you could let her off lead so she has the choice to completely ignore the pup or go up to say hello. You want her to now that the pup won't be able to pester her, so she doesn't need to tell him forcefully what she thinks of his behaviour.
