Hybrid work

Hello,
I am desperate to get a dog. I bought a house just so I could get one, however I was working such a demanding job previously I decided against it.

Since this however I have started a new job which is hybrid working so 3 days a week plus weekends I am home all day or can at least take the dog out with me.
However there are 2 days a week I am in the office 9-5 (this is including my travel time to and from work). Would an adult dog be able to go this long in regards to using the toilet ? I wouldn't be getting a puppy as I am fully aware that even the 2 days a week would not be an option.

Some dogs will last that long, but IMO they shouldn't be expected to - holding on, as well as being stressful, can lead to medical issues. I would plan to have a dog sitter/walker come in on those days.

I agree with Judy a dog shouldnt be expected to be left that long ...could a family member or friend pop in and walk the dog or let them out ....great that you are asking advice and not just going ahead and getting a dog
