My bitch has just had pups and I'm not really sure if they've got enough whippet blood in them to be described as lurchers. They are only 1/8th Whippet, the rest being predominantly Bedlington with Jack russell and Lakeland too. How ought I to advertise them - as lurchers or just as Beddie crosses?

i'm not sure, but there were some definitions put on a thread a while back.

i think it was sighthound x non sighthound= lurcher?

and sighthound x sighthound = longdog?

i'm sure one of the experts on here will be able to tell you. regardless, those are undeniably gorgeous puppies

well that mixs wouldnt be taken in by a lurcher rescueas as a lurcher. I would say its suppsoed to be 1/2 some my say 1/4 sighthound but 1/8 is not much influce in the breeding. I would go down the beddlinton lines as thats the predomint line

sounds like they'd make good bushing/marking dogs with that breeding but i dont think you could call them lurchers (to much terrier blood)

That's what I thought. I shall advertise them as Bedlington crosses.

more important, where's the photos?

It is Molly's first litter. There are three dogs and one bitch - the black and tan which I'm going to keep. I've no idea about the coats really. The brindle fur on the solid brindle dog and the brindle and white dog looks to be 'mat' in texture .... not sure what that means really.
