House Training Going Backwards, Help!

We have 2 7 month old pups, jack russell chihuahua crosses. we took them in 1 month ago and were told they were house trained, after the first few days of adjusting to their new home they seemed to be fine, but over the last few days, one of them has started weeing in the house again, once over night, assumed we'd left them too long on the kitchen, then yesterday she came right up to us on the couch and weed on the rug, then again today when I only left them for 1 and a half hour, and she definitely went in the garden before I left. Is this a rebellion or could she be poorly? help!

She may be starting a season but she may also have a urine/bladder/kidney infection.

I would take her to the vet to check.

And me.....however, there is a line in thinking out there, mostly amongst the rescue societies etc, who do, admittedly, work at the sharp end, that bitches should be neutered sooner, rather than later to avoid adding to the number of unwanted puppies out there.

I heard that too - I think it always 'used' to be after the first season, but often things move on rapidly and change daily in veterinary medicine.

I often think it's best to refer to your vet at the final call.

I think it is important to let a bitch have at least one season before she is spayed. I think a number of folk have their bitches spayed before because they don't wish to have to cope with the inconvenience of a season at all.

The reason for it being after the first season was to ensure the bitch is at a suitable point in her cycle

If the vet is confident to do it before, presumably they have other ways of telling now

Personally, I like to wait until a bitch is physically well grown before speying. Hormones help the bones, muscles and mind grow strong. I had my youngest bitch done at near 2 years old and in that time she never did have a season. I enquired with a rescue about a young bitch pup, but said I did not intend having it speyed at 6 months, as their policy stipulated, they would not consider rehoming one with me because of this. Oh well......there will always be pups needing homes.
