We had two whippets and one has recently died. The remaining bitch is thirteen and not well. A mature small male would make a good companion for her and us.

Have you checked out Just Whippets Rescue | Devon Whippets & Lurchers ? They say they have foster homes throughout the country so your geographical location shouldn't be a problem.

Sorry you've lost a family member ...but when ready try you local Dogs Trust who are excellent at suiting dogs to homes.

This may be painful to hear but at 13 and with ill-health, do you think your female will be ok with a new younger dog coming into the family?

But you did say you were looking for a mature dog-companion so you could still try Dogs Trust etc. I've just helped rehome a middle-aged terrier x into a home where there's a 12 yo JR and it seems to be going well so far. So much depends on the nature of all concerned and carefully supervised intro.
