Hi, advice needed

Our Great Dane gave birth to 1st pup at 8.30pm yesterday, by 6am this morning there were 9. Nipped out, another one, then at 6pm tonight another one! No placenta. I thought it was going to be dead considering how long it had been in there. Any he’s absolutely fine.
So that’s 6 hours ago now. But I have seen her contracting and liquid is coming out? Any advice gratefully received.
Scan showed 7.
 
You need to speak to your vet - how are things going this morning?

Could she have eaten the placenta? If not, it needs to come out so you do need to see the vet. I know you weren't expecting this many pups so this isn't aimed at you OP, but for anyone who reads in future, this is one of the reasons why dogs shouldn't be left alone.

Good morning. Yes everything seems ok. Not much green/brown discharge now and not seen any contractions all night? She hasnt eaten since 6th though? Is this normal?

Hi, we have been taking shifts over last 2 days to stay with her. I couldn’t rest otherwise! I know the last pup came out not in a sack but because she was pushed up against the couch she could have eaten it? Just made me wonder if she had something left inside with the pushing she was doing? Is it normal? Like when we have babies we can feel our tummies contracting???

Some do go off their food for a bit but she needs a good diet to help her make the milk for the puppies. Good quality puppy food, sardines, broccoli, puppy milk will help her with calcium. But I'd be worried it's indicative of the possible retained placenta. Also with that size of a litter you need to beware of calcium deficiency and eclampsia. Do you have a mentor?

Im not sure what u mean by mentor? Ive given her a meal this morning (puppy food) but wont look at it. Had to take her out for a wee. She didn’t want to go out. she had 4 pees and a poo
 
A mentor is an experienced person who guides and supports new breeders through their first litters, normally the breeder of the bitch. If she isn't eating and possibly has retained a placenta I still advise the vet. And I'm not sure I understand about her being behind the sofa, not in her whelpng box but that's not really relevant.

Because when i realised i needed one it was too late. Shes a great dane and the largest they did at pets at home was too small :(

She wasnt behind a sofa she was lay against it in my livingroom
 
Have you called your vet? They know your dog so they should have more idea of how to help and whats normal than a bunch of strangers on a forum who have no medical qualifications and have never clapped eyes on your dog.

You need a whelping box as she is at risk of hurting or accidentally killing the puppies.

Im rotating shifts with my partner so one of us is constantly with her, in pricess of finding one big enough

Thanks for the un helpful message. We have moved house recently so the new vet has never seen her. (New house other side of the country)
 
You still need to contact your vet, whether they've seen her before or not. Their advice will be much more reliable, and without wanting to overdramatise, it could also be a matter of life and death.
 
And to add... I have a neighbour whose newly born pup expired as she was frantically googling for advice...
 
If she hasn't seen the vet, has she been wormed properly (ie specifically for a pregnant bitch)?

Im sorry you dont like my honest plain answer but a vet is the ONLY one who can tell you for sure whats going on.

I agree - you have made a number of posts in the 3 hours or so since vets would have opened, I'd like to hear that you have called.

in 3.45 today. Just because this is my 1st experience with puppies I thought someone may had gone throu something similar
