Last week my 3 year Cockapoo was attacked by another dog on lead , had multiple puncture wounds and a broken front leg. She is on 6 week crate rest and I feel completely overwhelmed by the situation . She sleeps in her crate at night anyway but obviously in the day is used to running around . The whining and wanting to get out is tearing me up and its only day 5.....any help or adice ????

Oh poor little soul :( must be very stressful for both of you, can she have time out with you for cuddles on the sofa as long as you’re careful with her? Are you with her in the daytime? My Springer had to go on crate rest when she was 5 months old and was so stressed being shut in her crate she was doing more damage to herself, used to have her on my lap but put her back in her crate every so often, she coped ok for a few weeks.

Have you had a look online for games to play with a dog on crate rest? There's lots of ideas on the internet, some of which might help. If you're worried about needing to use too many treats, then cut right back on her meals and use her normal food as training/play treats.

I have had a couple of cuddles i cant resist many thanks xxx

How are you feeling now Lisa ? Have lots of cuddles, will make you both feel better.

Talking about treats... both of mine will settle for a length of a film on settee next to us if we hold challenging enough chews for them. They are bit rubbish holding onto them themselves and will otherwise soon loose the interest with them.
Maybe it could be something you can do with your girl couple of times a day? Watching a film/TV or read a book to keep you entertained too?

You’re nearly a week into the 6 and you’ve just about coped so counting down the days won’t seem so bad, lots of cuddles and a few chewy things will help the time pass. Did the owner of the dog that attacked your girlie have anything to say? Just not fair on both of you xx

:D Yeah...they are rather good at it! When they started it from their early age, I finally got it! ;)
Or more likely....I was ready to do anything for a moment of peace and quiet...almost 'me-time'
