yes i need help again please :- "

i cant get charlie to stand  hes 5 months now and iv got our first show next month :sweating: the problem is that hes quite a floppy puppy anyway so when i try and stack him he just sort of slithers to the ground and lies on his back with his tail wagging like mad  if i lift one end up he goes limp. his free stand is'nt to bad its when you touch or talk to him.

also hes still got a baby tooth even though the new tooth is through, the vet has said let nature take its corse but was wondering if i can still show him if is still there, which i hope it wont be by next month.

Of course you can , which tooth is it ?

Try baiting him with some cheese to get him to stand up , with out touching him . tell him what a good boy he is and reward him when he has been standing for just a few seconds , what ever you do dont make him stand for longer thean a couple of minuits at the most , Puppies ,like babies ( so Im told ! ) have a very short attention span  a bit like most men unless its golf , football , etc or a shaply blonde walking down the street

When he s ok , then you can start to place his feet where you want them

hes such a happy loving little boy   and although rupert is very loving to hes a little more aloof then charlie but that makes doing anything with him easier

as for the tooth is a big fang type one on the bottom, dont no the 'proper' name for it :- "

Hi, re. the tooth, my 5 month old (7/2/05) had a baby tooth firmly jammed in next to her adult tooth - it didn't show any signs of coming out and was as solid as a rock. I got a big knuckle bone from the butchers and within a couple of hours the baby tooth had come out. Might be worth a try. The dogs certainly enjoy it!!

I'm having fun standing my pups, they wiggle about and their heads are going round, noseying at everything in the room. The answer is to praise like mad when they do stand even for a second or two - and pray like hell when they don't!! (Always keeping your cool of course.)

Good luck with your first show, where is it? Let us know how things go won't you - my first show for the pups (I'm showing them alternately, dog first) is Trawden Ag. on 14/7

What breeding is your pup?

Do not leave the baby canine tooth in there. Do what you can to remove it. Wiggle it, give him a bone - whatever.

If left there it can cause displacement of the new canine and therefore will affect your ability to win with your dog, or it can rot beside the new tooth and cause discolouration to it.

its left a hole next to the new tooth so im cleaning it ( with a baby toothbrush) after each meal untill it heals as i dont want anything stuck in it, chalries not impressed at all

 Blaze and Rosie had still got puppy fangs at 5 months, but have lost them now they are 6 months on Wed .

I,m looking forward to their first show but at the same time not looking forward to it both are in puppy also their sister Millie is entered. So I know they are going to be little :- " :- "

I'm still having trouble standing them but find a bit of cheese works or some other smelly treat works well.

I've had to enter them both in the same class as the week after we have got the Hound Show and I didn't fancy a champ show first time out .Oh wellll if we don't get anything at least we have had a practice
