I'm Saffy.
My little friend Gemma died last week, she was a 14 year old Labrador, i'll be getting a new fur baby when the time feels right, until then i thought i'd join a dogs forum and get some ideas before i take the plunge.

Thank you both so much. I gave her the best life i could so although i'm extremely upset i am proud of myself for giving her the best.

That's all we can do @Saffy. - You have just got to think to yourself what a great life they had and how lucky they were. They passed away knowing happiness. The hardest part is for the human/s they leave behind

Thank you all. Yes it's the hardest part for us humans, she went very quickly at home which is a blessing as she didn't suffer and i was with her. I got her when she was 3 months old, she had been neglected and was full of fleas but i took her in and what a great dog she turned into. I'll post her pic as soon as i find my way around

Thank you all. I'm thinking of a rescue dog from a shelter, i'll give it a month or so then i'll start looking.
