I have joined this forum today as my husband and I have decided to look for a whippet, to become a new addition to our family.

A bit about us :

We live in W Cornwall. We have two daughters, both under three. We have two terrier crosses, neutered, and very friendly (especially towards the ladies). They are aged 4 and 6, both were rescue puppies. I have grown up with dogs, my family are in to border collies, and I used to work for my auntie who is a great breeder (Knottsway BCs).

We are looking for a bitch, looks irrelevent, just a lovely, familyfriendly temperament. Happy to take on a puppy, but will also look at mature bitches.

Breeding wise we would love to do local level showing, but other than that we aren't worried.

I have contacted some local breeders and everyone has been so helpful, so hopefully we will find one soon.

Do however pm me or reply on here if you can help.

Look forward to talking to you all, I have lots to learn, and can't wait for the year ahead

Hello and welcome :D

A crazy gang here but very nice too

Welcome to k9; I wish you luck in your search for a puppy.

It's a bit of a minefield out there searching for a reputable breeder. I'd recommend contacting 'bertha' on here she is the secretary of your local breed club and should be able to help you.

Welcome to K9,....be warned though Whippets are very addictive...

Hallo and welcome to K9 :D

I live just over the border in West Devon, there are alot of good whippets to be found down in the South West

As well as bertha, you could also contact daledogs and lizzieb, both members of K9, for information on local litters and possible re-homing opportunities.

In addition to this, if you need help with transport, please say, as K9 members can quite often club together to form a transport network to get a whippet to it's new home

Hi, and welcome. I live in west Cornwall as well. Hope you find your perfect dog soon  )

Another West Cornwall resident here.

Just joined as we are thinking about starting to look for a whippet.

Welcome to K9 :D When you start your search, it's worth asking Scruples Whippet Rescue about whippets for rehoming in Cornwall

Thanks, will do!
Just thought I'd say we're still looking, and have been on and off since Oct 2010.

Whenever we spot a dog we think is a good fit we're told it has to go to a home with existing canine company. We have friends with dogs but none of our own. It's a bit like buying your first house it seems - difficult to get on the ladder!

So we continue to be patient and look when we can.

Cheers,

Matt
