After thinking Tiny Tom had kennel cough it turns out after a heart scan he is in heart failure. ..he is on 3 meds a day which will hopefully give him one year of good quality of life. ..seems so unfair as he is only 9 :(

I'm so sorry to hear this - I'm sure you'll make whatever time he has left absolutely wonderful xx

Oh no, I just read your other thread about Victor. What a nightmare for you.

I'm so sorry. I know you will do your best for him. Please do your best for you as well. You are having a rotten time. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better.

Oh, I've just read about Victor too! What an awful time, here's hoping the meds settle Tiny Tom's condition and you have him a long while yet...thinking of you x

Life can be so unfair and hard, are animals are a huge part of our family and to many of us our children. sending much loving thoughts.

Thoughts with you. Hugs.

I had just read about Victor and now this. I am so very sorry you’ve had all this at once. I know all dogs are different but I had a beloved chihuahua Mildred (the vet said she gave the breed a good name) who developed this similar situation at age 8. I worried, fretted and pandered to her every whim and she on to live a very full life to the age of 15. I hope your Tiny Tom fares well and with your care I know he will be in wonderful hands.

Sorry to read about your dog Tiny Tom but I had a dog called Widget and he had heart failure the vet gave him 6 months and he died 2years later. Just reduced any stress for him and anything that put a strain on his heart lots of dogs respond so well to medication so try and keep a smile or he will see you are sad.

Thank you for all your kind comments ...after the intial shock its back to normal .. Tom has resumed normal walks as discussed with my previous vet and she agreed with us half the life that is enriched is better than more time but a less quality of life ...the meds seem to be doing the trick and he has gained some lost weight ...so each day as it comes ...

Tom is doing really well on his meds and has a new lease of life since we got Sykes ...we have to let him have quiet time alone in the afternoon as it can get a bit much for him ...apart from him being tired in the afternoon he is so much happier ;)
