I was Secretary of the Notth East BWRA at the time this gentleman was about.

To quote from the first booklet that I wrote. "March 1978 saw the death of one of the greatest racing characters I have had the pleasure to meet.

Harry Seymour was dedicated to the sport of whippet racing and was a great force in the beginning of the BWRA and the work he did helped to

put the North of England on the whippet racing map"

I can still picture him now, he always had a story to tell and with a straight face he was always a leg puller. I should imagine Erica will remember him also as she was a solid BWRA member then.

thanks audrey so the harry seymour open is a memorial open? think il ask erica when i next see her i wud imagine mitch wud have known him too?
 
Carol Harry used to run North Seaton whippet Club in the 1970s i think he was handicapper :thumbsup:
 
Would be great if Chris did some write ups in whippet news,about the past stalwarts of whippet racing.I love standing at track side with those who have been racing for years.They have loads of stories to tell :thumbsup:
