i am going to see my friend in blackpool at the end of july and am taking the girls but as im hiring a car i dont really want to do any damage trying to get my cage in are the harnesses that you use with the seat belt very safe as im driving on the m6 i want them to be 100% safe on the journey as that part of the motorway is a nightmare at the best of times :(

if i have to use my cage i will have to as i want them to be comfortable as its islas first long journey

any info would be much appreciated thanks

I've used an RAC safety harness in the car for years without problem.

Ive used the pets at home one with Molly since she was tiny and have found it great, but luckily have never had an accident so cant really vouch for how safe it would be in that situation. It does keep her secure and she is very happy using it :D :D

i use harness and seat belts with mine when were taking a lot out as as we have or should i say had 8 ancor ponts in the old mpv as the seats supn round nere had any problems and everyone new there on placesinfat i prefared them to the cage as even in the cage they could stand up and get bounced about do a few little trips and get them used to it. the only snag was mine didnt like keeping them on so it did take time getting the harnesses on and off when we whent out. last year mine whent all the way to scotland with them no problems

I haven't used a harness yet, although I do have a couple here.

I must try it because I feel that the dogs are at risk in the back of the car because that is the most vulnerable place if someone runs into the back of you

Good luck with the journey, Kel :luck: It will get Isla used to travelling before you come to visit us in the summer :D

Mine have them although I only use them if I have to use OH's car or I have more than I can get into the crates. The only problem I have is some of mine stand on the seat belt clip and undo themselves. Zoe can also get her harness of before you can get round to the drivers side of the car :( William wore one going to Great Yarmputh a few years ago with no problems at all it took us 6 hours to get there going down the m6 route and he was fine all the way.

i have done it before jane but not with a manic puppy i was just worried she would wriggle her way out while i was on the m6 and i wouldnt be able to stop to do anything about it  and as helen said im worried about them standing on the clip and undoing themselves i will have to get one and try it out

i will go and have a look at some this week failing that i will buy 2 smaller crates :)
