might be worth looking into these dogs, though I think their movements are accounted for before 19/09/05:

one of the rescue sloughi dogs I came across on-line is Josef in Ireland:

look him up at the http://www.irishanimals.com website

the other is Cesare in Bath:

I think both those dogs look more like saluki crosses than purebred sloughis, in particular in that they seem to have very light ears for sloughis. Also, I don't think I have ever seen any sloughis with coats quite as red as these. Anyway, I hope they find loving homes, and that the sloughi that is missing is returned safely to its owner.

FYI - I am the person in Ireland who has Josef Sloughi in my care. He is, by the way, a sloughi. Several photos were sent to the sloughi people in the US and one in the UK and they have confirmed he is a sloughi. His temperament in fact is VERY sloughi! He also has many classic sloughi traits, and there was a line of slougis bred in the UK with this colouring in recent years.

He could not be your dog because he has been in my care since late June. Previous to that he was feral for at least 3 yrs in Ireland. Before that we feel he was owned by someone in the traveling community as his ears are notched in a way that is often done by them. He clearly has been badly treated in the past, and it took a long time to gain his trust. Previous to that we suspect he was born and bred in the UK by a particularl sloughi breeder who is now facing charges from the RSPCA. I was in fact hoping he was someone's stolen pet, but that does not seem to be the case, as I have checked all the lost dog boards I know about.

For you who have lost your sloughi, I guess you know most people don't know the difference between a sloughi and a part-greyhound, so unfortunately photos are the best - and perhaps only - way to search for your pet. I will keep your dog in mind and if anything like him shows up here in Ireland, I know how to get hold of you. I am involved in greyhound rescue and network quite a bit with other people in the rescue community.

I do hope you find your sloughi.
