Greyhound -dog (neutered)

Smooth coated

White with brindle patches

Brindle patches, grey face

Green tattoos both ears.

Brown leather collar and lead, green soft collar with name and phone number tag

Age: 5 years

Name is "Solly"

Went missing from: Deptford, New Cross, South East London on 7/4/03

Circumstance of loss: Scared by another dog and owner let go of the lead- Solly ran away towards Trundleys Road SE8. Not seen since (16.45 hrs, Monday 7th April. Friendly dog. Likes cars and vans so may have got into one - and no longer in the area.

Solly was found on Wednesday morning on an industrial estate next to Millwall football stadium in South East London - about a mile from where he had gone missing. He was found in the back of an estate car owned by a mechanic. The mechanic had left the car boot open while he was in his workshop and when he went back outside found Solly sitting in the boot! He was still wearing his collar, lead and ID tag so the mechanic was able to call Solly's owner straight away.

Solly had been living rough for 9 days. He had lost weight, smelt of oil and was very dirty but otherwise OK.

He is now having an Easter holiday in Dorset and getting lots of attention and love. We had never given up on Solly but as each day went by we felt more and more desperate. Words can not say how relieved we are to have him back safe and sound.

Many, many thanks to everyone who kept an eye out for him.
