Greyhound Airedale Cross

I've always thought that an Airedale would make a great cross for a big hearted, strong and versatile lurcher. Does anyone have any experience/opinion of this? Does anyone own such a dog? Would anyone be interested in giving it a go? Just looking for thoughts on the topic.

Jackie Drakeford's book "The House Lurcher" shows a pic of a Airedale lurcher. She describes the cross as producing a "useful lurcher."

I'm sure I saw just such a dog in Rescue, on dogpages.co.uk this morning actually (weird coincidence!)

oops sorry, edited to say that I just went back and had a look and realised it was an English Sheepdog Airedale cross but there's a link if you're interested. She's a nice-looking dog actually. You have to scroll down, she's on the right hand side about 2/3rds of the way down the page.
