hi i met a wonderfull great dane x labrador earlier this year, I was wandering is this a dog that i could find somewhere in uk? I lost my very tall 14 yr lab this year and the space feels empty. I would like to home this cross if possible. can anyone advise.

Hi and welcome to K9. Sorry about your loss - takes some time to get over things doesn't it?

I have a tall Lab. X. Many people have said he has some Dane in him - it is very obvious in his head. I got him from the local stray kennels, I don't know where you are from, but it is always worth checking them out. I fostered 55 wonderful dogs that all came from the local stray kennels, not one of them deserved to be P.T.S., which was the alternative if I hadn't taken them in. How about making enquiries in your area and seeing if you can have a look round. The dogs are ever changing, so keep checking!! Good Luck

hi jools. thank you for your reply. im in north wales and have been looking at rescue centres, there are many on the net that helps. my last dog was a rescue and he was a star. you sound busy with your own dog addoptions. cant wait (but i will) to be a loving mum once again.

Sorry for your loss :( It takes a while to get over a beloved friend - take your time. :luck:

I waited eight months - firstly deciding Never to have another dog at all after losing Chip aged 12 and half last February. Now I have two Gorgeous new whippets and life couldnt be better. Chip will never be replaced but they all have different personalities and help life along the way.

Good luck if you decide on another dog. :luck: :luck:

thank you for your lovely supportive msg I too wish you some comfort with your new found family, they are certainly a lovely pair. I will continue my journey. I know some where the right dog will find me soon. I am open minded about who he may be but at the moment I am driven by a wonderfull image that stays with me. I guess we all hold on to a little beleif. thanks lynne :))

Hi Lynne, tears the heart when you loose such a special one I know. :( Best to remember all the good. Every best wish with your quest :luck:

At least your not in a rush, which is a good thing...I really would recommend checking out your local stray kennels as jools suggested, not only on the web, but physically going down and having a look, talking to the staff - letting them know what your hoping for etc.

I'm assuming you've tried Lab. rescue already, as I'm no expert but I guess there are different lines which throw leggier ones.

:luck: :luck: :luck:

Hi babbit,

your msg made me smile, took me back to fond memories of jake with his bandy legs always trying to fight his way to the drivers seat and not quite getting comfortable behind the drivers wheel(fortunatly)... least i had one space to call my own!

I did visit a centre this week end and had a chat and will continue to do so. your suggestion about lab rescue good. I had resigned myself to never ever seing a lab like jake before and thats a lot 4 a new dog to live up 2. Truth is once I got my new buddy all that would go out the window. . . guess i still got him up there on the pedastal pf greatness. . .the vibrant loveable pain that he was. . . its all in the eyes and thats hard to detect on a computer..

thanks Lynne ;) :))
