I've never been to France and I'd like to go basically.....

I want a cheap, quick, glimpse of the place without too much travelling involved-

I'd probably take our van across....

I'm 10 minutes away from- Morecambe/Heysham Port

Advice/recommendations would be appreciated.....

Dover?

Portsmouth?

Where do folk go to for the 'big supermarkets' at Christmas -so called 'booze runs'

I live about 20 minutes from Folestone - Junction 11A off the M20 will take you through Eurotunnel to the big supermarkets on the other side. I've never taken my car, as we can go by bus from Ashford - about £15 for the return trip and it goes every week - I think 2 or 3 times a week towrads Christmas and during the summer.

You get to go to the hypermarkets there (Carrefours etc) and a huge shopping mall. If you want to, you can also go into the town of Calais.

Hope this helps!

I've got to go tomorrow (flight is at 6.30am so getting up at about 3am (w00t) )

It's a training meeting for work so not going to be having much time to look around but if you want me to try and bring any info back to post to you then let me know :)

We're staying in Paris - I've never been there before so I am looking forward to it (apart from not being able to see Jinny for 4 days :( )

How about Normandy? Go and see the war graves etc, once in a life time experience. We drive down to Portsmouth and get ferry across to Caen, then drive. It aint that far and the scenery is beautiful on the way
