We went on a Five Dales walk today which Nicola recommended to us. The morning didn't start too well, we got up and Molly was a bit poorly - runny bums. We didn't want to take her but also didn't want to leave her in the holiday cottage but she's a good girl and knew we could trust her not to chew anything - unlike Lenny! She was happy curled up in her crate with the door open when we left :)

The weather wasn't too good so we went to an outdoor shop to get John some new boots as he'd forgotten his waterproof ones  By the time we'd finished shopping it had stopped raining! We decided to shorten the walk slightly so we weren't leaving Molly for too long so it ended up a three dales walk rather than five dales (missing out Tansley and Cressbrook) but we still really enjoyed it. The first part of the walk was lovely and sunny, right down to Millers Dale. Unfortunately the path in Water-Cum-Jolly Dale was quite flooded but we couldn't be bothered to turn back to the alternative route so we just waded through. It wasn't any deeper than my shoes, but very muddy! Then there was a big downpour, Lenny was not amused  but after that the sun came out again. I think we were very lucky considering that the forecast was heavy rain all day!

I'll stop waffling now and show you some pictures.

A lovely walk with beautiful scenery, we really enjoyed ourselves :D I'd love to do it again next time we visit but walk the whole five dales! Thanks for the recommendation Nicola :huggles:

By the way, Molly was ok when we got home so we cooked her a big bowl of chicken

Thanks Trish, but I can't say that any skill was involved with taking the pictures - I just point and click :D totally clueless when it comes to cameras

Ooh...I nearly missed this. :sweating:

I thought about you both yesterday, and suddenly wondered if Water Cum Jolly was flooded!

I recognised every scenic photo :huggles: ...I tend to do that walk twice a year. It doesn't sound much, but I've been living in the Peak District for 8.5 years now. I love that 1st view of Tideswell Church too.

Many thanks......glad you enjoyed it, in spite of the wet feet. Lovely photos. :) Hope Molly is a bit better now.

Somehow I missed this yesterday as well! :b Some lovely photos there Lucy - it's a nice one of you with Lenny. :) Glad the rain is holding off to a degree so you can at least get out with the dogs. Nice here today so hope it's OK a bit further south with you. Must try that walk myself - we don't tend to go south much, but the Tideswell Dale walk through the trees looks nice. Glad Molly was better when you got back. :huggles:

Well what a gorgeous day today :D we decided to go further north seeing as it was so sunny. We went for a walk to Mam Tor. We've never been there before and loved the views :)

That's one of the walks I'd like to do - the 'Shivering' mountain! (w00t)
