Some thing really awful has happended to one of our friends today and it's makes you think. I wonder if there are any first aid courses for dogs that owners can go on for practical things to do to help an injured dog whilst waiting for a vet?
Our friends were walking their son's lovely 12 month old collie/springer JJ along the cliff tops at Burton Bradstock today. There are no fences along parts of the cliff top path, one of them went approx 2ft from the edge to see what the sea was like, the dog followed him and the cliff gave way and the poor dog dropped all the way down to the beach. The coast guard arrived within 20 minutes and JJ died just as they got there. I'm sure that there is nothing that could have been done to help him anyway and they must have felt totally helpless just standing by him and hoping for him to die quickly
They are in a terrible state as you can imagine and have now left to go home with his body in the boot, when this morning he was a lively young dog full of energy
They also have to tell their son
RIP JJ.
