Hi to all, im looking on this site to see if i can find fellow whippet racers from my time in whippet racing 1979-1990, my name is john abbott (johnno), ive been living abroad (croatia) for last ten years, some of the whippets i had were holly cross, rch/nch my choice, witchcraft. I also ran a few clubs over them years, bilsthorpe, meden valley, and north notts, was for a spell bwra president, and spent years as a east-mids rep for the bwra.

Over the years in the sport i met some brilliant people, and some not so brilliant, but overall it was a great time.

I would like to get back in touch (via-email) with past friends from the whippet racing fraternity, and to see how the sport has changed from "the old days" if it has at all, and to really have chats about whippet racing in general, as you can imagine out here in croatia, no one has heard of the sport, ive recognised a couple of names i know on the forum pages, and i will be in touch with them very soon, but with all the nick-names etc, im not sure who is who. thanx johnno

Hiya Johnno - This is Karen, i used to race every week at North Notts at the time that you were running with my mum and dad Jud and Pat Blower (Country Lady, Double Rum, Dambuster Double Trouble and Double Scotch). I now race with my daughters Sadie and Kim (the twins) remember!!! I have a veteran bitch who is grandaughter of My Choice who always gave 100 per cent and became veteran champ in 2001 she now has retired (Twice as Nice).

Unfortunately Dad doesn't race at all now due to illness but mum still runs Manton but unfortunately she doesn't manage to get anywhere else cos dad can't be left for too long. Nice to hear from you and maybe see you around.

Karen
