Right so she managed to live through the car accident, a weekend sedation & 3 operations now the bloody daft dog if starving herself!

She's always been a picky eater, but came out of the vets & was eating like a horse for the first week, now shes going back downhill.

She'd eaten liver, chicken, shin beef & tinned dog food no probs but is now turning her nose up at all them, yesterday the only thing she ate was a packet of ham, it's the only thing she'd even look at.

Now i've got her some burgers under the grill in the hope that all the fat might tempt her.

Anyone else any ideas?

Have you tried chucking her food all round the garden, dogs love that I understand?! lol :p

Good old green tripe :x my picky ones love it :D ........and as you'll be trying to build her up again, try horlicks made with goats milk as its full of vitamins etc and they normally love it because its sweet :D :luck:

Our dog goes nuts for tuna and will eat anything if its coated with tuna might be worth a try.

Cheers

Steve

ye try chuna straight out of the tin nice & smellyit sometimes works, failing that when my dog turns his nose up for a couple of days the good old markies has bridged the gap vicky

hi vicky i hope your dog is eating proerly again already, but if not have u tried coating food with tinned chopped tomatoes? When we had Whizziwig and she was in pup she went very fussy however she would eat things if they were coated in tinned tomatoes. Failing that have u tried scrambled eggs? Whizziwig ate them too. Hope your dog is recovering ok from her ordeal.

Well she ate 4 burgers :x

She's just turned her nose up at a black pudding (will try again with that later) and i've got some tripe & cod to try her with yet, she did drink the horlicks & milk though (cheers Hannah), Will give the tomatoes, tuna & scrambled eggs a go too

Thanks everyone - will let you know how we get on!

I'm glad she liked the horlicks  .......but just the thought of tripe + cod + eggs + horlicks + tomatoes + tuna :x let alone the burgers :x :x :x (and this just befor my tea as well (w00t) ). .................I do hope that she's feeling much better soon though :D

My nana has just turned up with a full cooked chicken for her & she wolfed down the breast!!!! I think she's just taking me for a ride :p

I got this recipe off another whippet site & I'm going to try it on my fussy eater. The weights & ingredients are written in 'American' so I will have to try to find the equivalent in Australia but I shall give it to you exactly as I wrote it down off the site.

Satin Balls

10 pounds of hamburger meat (cheapest kind)

1 large box of Total cereal or coparable natural brand

1 large box of oatmeal

1 jar of wheatgerm

1 1/4 cup veg oil

1 1/4 cup unsulfured molasses

10 raw eggs 10 envelopes of unflavoured gelatin

pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients together. You can make them into small balls & freeze. Apparently they can be used as a total diet or just fed along with normal meals.

Hope this helps

Linda

Cat food especially moist tinned or pouches.

You can borrow some of ours if you want.

Well at least my Kerri isn't the only fussy dog. Most say leave em and they'll eat when they're hungry but she was of the stubborn breed that would prefer to waste away (she tried it on with us once and went down to almost 21lb). She's tried it on again this past week so I have spent the last few days playing "catch" with her food and putting it inside a teddy for her to pull to pieces and get it out, also hand feeding. Good Luck with Kit the G*t :b (Kerri is known as Kat the ... well you know).

Cheers Tony & Hannah

Will give the cat food a go tomorrow.

I would usually leave her to her own devices but she needs a bit of meat on her if she's to get over the ops etc, i weighed her yesteday at the vets & she's 25lb (usually spot on 27lb no matter what) 2lb isnt really that much but she wasn't over weight to start with, so she's looking a bit of a state at the mo.

eta. It's a shame i can't lend her Ella (the tank)'s appetite for a week or so :D
