im wondering who has the fastest whippets at the moment in pedigree racing,is there anyone or a line doing consistently well in championships, thanks

I don't think there IS a dominant strain at the moment. There has been in the past and probably will be again ...... but who knows?

Go to a couple of championships and see if anything takes your fancy, is my advice. You never know there may be litters planned (I'm kind of assuming you are looking for a future pup)

fastest whippet - what does it mean?

Fastest out of the traps

Fastest over 100 or 150 yards

Fastest over 240 or 300 yards

Fastest out of slips

Fastest over grass or plough

Fastest to turn

I'd suggest to you that it would be a different Whippet if you consider any one of these.

Rob.

im looking into a potential sire for my own bitch shes wagtail warrior x deberick golden primrose

24lb and 18 1/2" tts all heart and no leg :clown: we run straight up hand slipped 200yrds and i also use her with the ferret but its the racing side im lookin to breed for

With her breeding as she's an out cross you'll be able to take her to any racing line. My advice is to go onto The Whippet Club website and look at the champs racing results ...... Have a visit to your local racing clubs as often there are good dogs at these that don't always do many opens and these dogs are over looked in most racers breeding programs.... If you want to work the pup aswell go for a dog that has stamina and substance as some of the racing lines may have that top speed sprint but ask them to work and they'd flag ......The BSFA also is a good place to source a line with the above ....... If you want to go to a "popular" sire just look at what they have produced as a few top sires have produced nothing much ....... Go with what you like the look of and what you think will compliment your bitch ..... The older the sire wether used before or not is better IMO as it gives time to see how prone to injury or illness they are, oldies should never be over looked IMO....... Talk to people at race meets and they can tell you lines that are prone to injuries, weak muscles, illness, temp problems etc ..... :luck:
