Greetings all lure coursers
The first Open of the new season is hereby announced.
The date: Saturday 20 September 2008
It will be a 32 dog stake open to any KC reg. whippet that is at least 1 year old and does not exceed 21 inches in height.
The venue as in previous Opens will be Little Dog Drove, Holbeach St. Johns, Lincs. PE12 8RR. By kind permission of Mr and Mrs Bettinson
Holbeach St Johns is approx 5-6 miles from the A17 at Holbeach.Take the B1168 to Holbeach St Johns (following the signs to Holbeach St Johns airfield) Little Dog Drove is a no through road. The running ground is near the end of the road on the left just before Lazy Acre Caravan Park. Please park neatly on the field.
Meet at 0900 for a 0930 start.
The entry fee is £10 per dog. All finalists will receive a rosette.
The winner and runner up will receive one year of free membership to our club plus special rosettes. Additionally, the winner will receive the Colin Neville Trophy (currently held by me (w00t) ) which will be presented at our Luncheon at Richmond Park Golf Club Watton on Saturday 16 May 2009 and will be held for 1 year.
Entries for this event will close when the stake is full, so it is a case of first come etc. etc.
Entry to the field is by card, obtained on the day at a cost of £1 per person. Children under the age of 15 will be free.
There will be a purse stake for first round losers and a plate stake for second round losers.
The course will be more taxing than on previous occasions as we attempt to outsmart our whippets. 500 to 700 metres or thereabouts.
John Wallace will be the slipper.
The draw will take place on Friday 12 Sept.
All entries to:
Andrea Barr
Croft Cottage
68 Colne Rd
Coggeshall
Essex
CO6 1TH
01376 563592 or 07717 134331
Coursing collars required. If you need a set of collars, PM Lampingman and I will explain how you may obtain a set and support JR Whippet Rescue as well.
It is anticipated that a sponsor will be supporting this event with financial backing. More news on this once I have spoken to Andrea, who doesn't know about it yet.
Good luck. More news later
