how old are dogs before thwy start cocking their legs to go to the toilet?
 
I had an 8 week old puppy that cocked his leg (w00t) ,but i've also had a male who never did,too lazy,i reckon :b
 
Tiny is 18 months and has only just started to cock his leg - he is pretty hopeless at it and either falls over or doesn't bother cocking his leg and wees all over his legs!! I have got used to the idea that I am going to have to carry baby wipes everywhere and wipe his legs for him!! (w00t)

Max on the other hand, sometimes lifts his leg but mostly doesn't bother - he is quite lazy, but he never wees on himself - although he has weed on Tiny's head and all over Tiny's back leg and coat a few times. (w00t) :oops:

I think the answer to your question is 'it depends'!!

Took my Zak a while to start cocking his leg. But JD who is 16 months started doing it when he was 4 months old. Mind you he did cock his leg and then fall over a few times. As Claire said it depends. (w00t)

I don't want to disappoint anyone but my experience is that some just carry right on (no names mentioned :- " ) :x Ours is better at avoiding his legs when he squats actually, but his concentration usually wanders during a long pee, and the last bit usually ends up on the front legs.

He seemed to prefer squatting for a long time, I'm sure he was over a year before he started cocking his leg. Even now, cocking seems reserved for marking things, if he just wants to empty his bladder he usually squats.

(I think I need to get out more. :oops: )

monty started cocking his leg at 8 weeks ...every time too!!!!!!! i have now had to take all the food out of the bottom kitchen cupboards! :x

That's the problem Tiny has - he sees something more interesting and watches that and the wee goes wrong - and all over his feet! :- "

Boys are very different fro the girlies :lol: Oscar cocked his leg quite early and Kobi too - but both weed on their legs at some point. (w00t)

Oscar often pees over Kobi's head (when hes not watching (w00t) ) and my old boy Chip used to sometimes squat like a bitch and do a half hearted attempt at a cocked leg - if you know what I mean. :lol:
 
I have to admit he does open his legs a little wider at the front now so it goes through at first he just wee'd straight forward onto his front legs :eek: :oops:

Sparky (13months) still squats and pees all over his front feet. When he comes in he licks his paws, Andrew told my mum that Sparky is so well trained he always washes his hands when he has been to the toilet.

Logan squats and, although he doesn't pee over his feet, he usually pees so long that a pool forms around his feet to which he is oblivious! (w00t) Albie squats mostly but I caught him cocking his leg in the house the other day :rant: - I'd been blaming Oliver! :oops: Oliver always cocks his leg and would attain 180 degrees if it was physically possible! :wacko: Freddie will lift his bad leg (he retired from the track with a broken hock) but if he wants to pee on the other side he won't put any weight on the bad one (which doesn't hurt anymore, he's just a big girls blouse!). one of our whippets cocks her leg and shes nearly 4 and one of the greyhounds is 8 years old and he still pees like a girl :lol:
 
Eli's 5 and always does girl wees, and never fails to turn his front legs yellow :x
