I’ve just seen on my local Facebook feed that a new zebra foal born during lockdown has died at Noah’s Ark Zoo.

They believe the firework displays scared the foal and when it spooked it ran straight into its enclosure wall and died on impact :-( it’s so sad.

I honestly think people who don’t have dogs just don’t understand.
Even we were lucky that den wasn’t affected by them so we didn’t experience the upset they can cause

It is heartbreaking! There is a movement in UK, to ban fireworks, but the 'powers that be' aree saying there is too much to loose by banning them! Ha, Too many lives to loose by NOT banning them is nearer the truth! I would like to see the fireworks be reduced in volume, only on special occasions and have to have a licence to have them. That would be a good starting point I think!

In the Netherlands, where I believe fireworks are even louder and more powerful than here, they have been completely banned this year to keep the pressure off the emergency services.

I have read so many horror stories this week dogs dying, rabbits, a poor cat that lost its leg a horse that had its ear cut and a firework fastened to it. Even an hedgehog fastened to a rocket, what is wrong with these poor excuses of human beings. Think the saddest 2 are a dog was scared by a firework and ran off and got hit by a car and died, and the poor little dog who was so scared after a loud bang gave one bark and died .If we must have them why cant we have silent ones like other countries I've just joined a Facebook group Animals against Noise and all the stories are firework related so sad. I posted on Fb a rant about fireworks near me and one of my friends replied with "someone did post and say they were letting off Fireworks"...That doesn't help any though does it. Betty is petrified of them

Post the fireworks I have brought the dog's evening walk forward a few hours so that it can be done in the last of the daylight. It worked well last night. Her bowels have been fine today. Not looking forward to the one today though (about a half hour from now) as its very wet and windy. The death of the animals is truly awful.

my friends have family in Sweden and when they went for NYE they said it was crazy. People were letting them off in the streets and at each other!

I'm luck that my Banjo appears to not care about fireworks which is a relief because some idiot set off a bunch of rockets 20 yards away from us during an evening walk (prick!)
