Many people now have a holiday home and also own a pet that they would like to take with them preferably travelling on the same flight from a to b.

We own an apartment in Tenerife and the lowest price fare for our Whippet is in the region £450.00 one way. Our continental neighbours within the E.U. only pay excess baggage! If the dog is below 7kg they can take it in the cabin, above this weight a special airline approved container is necessary. We obviously realise that Pets Passport and Veterinary checks are legally required but why is it that our average flight cost is £140 return per person and the same journey for a dog is £900 return. The option of us using two ferries is always an opportunity but this journey would take 5 days travelling as opposed to 4 hours by air.

Can anyone please advise or is this just another UK rip-off that we have to accept.
